Political Action & Legislative Awareness
The Government Affairs Council sponsors candidate forums, legislative update luncheons, and the popular 'Coffee & Politics' series that allow Chamber and community members to meet with local, state and federal officials. The Chamber also sponsors the annual State of the State Luncheon with CA Senator Alan Lowenthal and Assembly Member Tony Mendoza, the annual State of the County Luncheon with Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe, and the annual State of the City Luncheon with Cerritos Mayor Jim Edwards and City Manager Art Gallucci. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend the monthly Government Affairs Council meetings- either to participate in the discussions or to listen. The GAC meets at 10:00 am in the Chamber Board Room (13259 E .South Street - second floor). As the strong voice for business, the Cerritos Regional Chamber of Commerce prioritizes government advocacy and political action by representing and protecting businesses from regulations and anti-business legislation. The Government Affairs Council meets on a monthly basis to identify and discuss important issues, to establish rapport with elected and government officials, and to influence public policy and legislation that effects the business community.
