Scott's Thoughts
Family, Business and a Whole Lot More
During the Thanksgiving Holiday season, it can be a joyous occasion for family. Family is your inner most circle of friends and acquaintances. The family circle can be an incredible source of strength and confidence. During this upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, let’s remember to be Thankful.
Thankfulness is a far too underutilized attitude. It literally costs nothing and yet, it is nearly priceless in value. Starting your day with a quick “roll call” of things you are thankful for can really change your outlook on the events and challenges of everyday life. Maybe I’m just getting old, but I find myself more and more thankful every day for the simplest things in life; things that many people do without on a daily basis. Always on the top of my list is family. I have been blessed with a loving wife of over 39 year, 3 wonderful children and 2 incredible grandchildren (plus one due on April, but don't tell anyone yet). That right there gives me a lot to be thankful for each day and of course the list goes on.
In business, I have tremendous adoration for those companies that place a high value on creating a culture of manners, positivity and thankfulness. As it is in family, creating an environment and culture of thankfulness in business does not have to cost anything but it can and usually does pay huge dividends. One of my favorite practices is to call our server at a restaurant by their name. It’s right there on their badge. My unofficial survey of this practice is that it results in better service. Acknowledging one another as a person of importance is a great start to building a culture of thankfulness. All it takes is one; be the one.
The chamber is thankful and grateful to the local businesses that have been assisting with this year’s Holiday Donation Drive. This year we selected The Whole Child as the recipient of the Drive. Throughout the city, member businesses have collection boxes to gather boys and girls clothing, blankets, retail and grocery gift cards, educational toys and books. These generous gifts and donations are to be presented to The Whole Child during our Annual Holiday Luncheon. Make your reservations now to attend this very special Holiday event.
I’m also very thankful that we were able to add a few new members this week.
Trieu Chau Noodle Bar is located in the City Plaza in Artesia. Their Vietnamese, Cambodian and Chinese menu offers a great deal of variety. A big plus is the fact that they are open for breakfast. I do love a good bowl of Pho.
Homes for Heroes is a great company that is dedicated to assisting heroes find and qualify for a home. They serve Firefighters, Law Enforcement, Military (Active, Reserve & Veterans), EMS, Teachers and Healthcare Professionals. “Our mission is to provide extraordinary savings to heroes who provide extraordinary services to our nation and its communities every day.”
T. Hasegawa is a world renowned best-in-class custom flavor creation manufacturer. Their Cerritos facility features Production Facilities, R&D Labs, Culinary Kitchen, Analytical, Sensory and Pilot Labs. They continue to pioneer the flavor industry with a customer experience that is optimized to rapidly respond with technical expertise. They boast, “We are committed to giving our customers the highest level of service.”
I do hope that everyone reading this has a truly happy Thanksgiving Holiday.
