It’s a Long Season, Keep Playing

Let’s first congratulate the new Cerritos City Councilmembers projected to take the two seats up for grabs – Grace Hu and Chuong Vo. This was not an election for the faint of heart, and all of the candidates seemed to find out as they walked the City from one end to the other, attended candidates’ forums and shook thousands of hands. We look forward to working with the new Councilmembers, and the City of Cerritos, to continue growing the local economy.

I’ve often compared baseball to life…or just about anything. Two of my favorite baseball seasons were 1988 and 2002. Of course, 1988 was the magical year where the Dodgers won the World Series. They were not the favorite that year and they were down to the Mets, but they fought back – against the odds (if you believe in such a thing). It was capped off by Gibby’s miraculous home run. In 2002 the Angels took home the World Series Trophy. This was a team that was horrible in the first half of the year and was written off by everyone – except their manager, and a member of that 1988 Dodgers team, Mike Scioscia. The team was spectacular in the second half of the season and made it through Wild Card and League Championship series to face the mighty Giants in the Fall Classic. I remember Game 6 like I remember Gibby’s homer – it was the stuff of legends. Okay Scott, get to the point (which is likely obvious). The point is don’t give up – the baseball season is 162 games and it takes talent and perseverance to win. Just like in business. Just like in life. Fail today? There’s always tomorrow. Keep playing. Keep swinging. If the Dodgers can win in 1988 or the Angels in 2002, then there’s hope for all of us.

Hey, let’s do lunch next Wednesday at Lucille’s! This is an invite to all for our next Let’s Do Lunch networking luncheon at the site where these great luncheons all began – Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. We expect a big crowd, so be sure to RSVP by emailing us or using the link below. We look forward to seeing you soon.

For those of you who celebrated Passover this week, we hope you enjoyed this festival of freedom. Happy Easter to those of you celebrating this weekend – we hope the Easter Bunny (I’ve heard you can find him at the Los Cerritos Center) is good to you.
