New Year’s Resolutions…or Not

New Year’s Resolutions…or Not
I typically don’t make New Year’s Resolutions, do you? About 41% of Americans make New Year’s Resolutions. It’s probably not surprising that the number one resolution is to lose weight and eat healthier. Most of you who make a resolution do a great job in keeping it…for the first week or so. The further we get away from New Year’s Day; we find you “resolution-ists” aren’t that successful. Six months from now about 44% of resolutions will still be alive and well. Oh, and the older you are the less likely you are to actually make a resolution. Only 16% of Americans over 50 will see out their resolutions, while nearly 38% of 20-somethings will achieve their resolutions. Whatever your resolution was this year – maybe to be more engaged with your business or the Chamber? – I wish you success!
One thing you can count on working at a Chamber is that every week is a bit different. This week was no exception. We were pleased to help Mulhearn Realtors/Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties celebrate 50 years of helping customers sell and purchase property. We also spent time at The Gardens Casino, where they held a formal grand opening event for their new, spectacular casino. I’m telling you, it’s as close to Vegas as any local casino I know of. Don’t gamble? Stop by and grab a bite to eat, the restaurant is top-notch.
That was this week, who knows what will happen next week?! Oh wait, I do! We have several events going on next week – a ribbon cutting at Crunch Fitness and our very popular Labor Law Update. This workshop is so great. Ann K. Smith, Esq. – a former Chamber Board President – does a fantastic job of breaking down all of the new labor laws YOU need to know in a fun way that only she can do. Hope you can make it!
