What Do You Stand For?
What do you stand for? I mean to say, what is it that you strive to accomplish? Maybe it’s making the best tacos in the area or providing the most unique Native American art pieces. Here at the Chamber, it’s always been about making sure Cerritos is a great place to do business, reside, and work. I gave a brief update about the Chamber at this week’s Economic Development Commission meeting, and it really put my mind in a tizzy about what to say. There’s so much we do, with a very small staff and budget, I wasn’t sure what to focus on. I ended up narrowing what we do down to three areas: Economic Development, Business Development, and Advocacy. Economic Development consists of the education and resources we bring to the business community, like our HR workshops and annual business conference. Business Development is all about bringing opportunities to our members to build their brand and customer base through networking and branding events like the Taste of the Region & Business Expo. Finally, we advocate at all levels of government for common sense laws and regulations that allow business to flourish. Whew! It’s a mouthful, but it’s the Chamber in a nutshell, and it’s what we stand for and what we’re all about.
What do President Lincoln and my father have in common? They share the same birthday. This past weekend we celebrated my father’s 80th birthday with friends and family. My father’s been a warrior and a world traveler. He’s been husband, father, and grandpa. He is the strongest and most giving person I know. It was great to celebrate a man who has done so much for so many. Happy birthday, Dad!
Enjoy your weekend and we’ll see you soon.
