Keep that Holiday Feeling

Happy holidays! Christmas will be here in just a few days. It’s been a great holiday season for the Chamber –  with an outstanding Holiday Drive supporting the ABCUSD Head Start Program, a fun Holiday Luncheon, and a very festive Holiday Mixer. Our pal Elfis has made his way around the community, stopping at Chamber members to visit and shop. It’s hard to believe that the season will be over soon. At the risk of stealing a line from a Hallmark Channel holiday movie, there’s really no reason we can’t keep what makes this season so wonderful in our hearts and actions all year long. The wonder, joy, fellowship, and giving spirit drive this season and make us all a bit better (uh, maybe not in the mall parking lot…but I digress). Maybe that’s what we can all strive for in 2018.
“Christmas is a day of meaning and traditions, a special day spent in the warm circle of family and friends.” Margaret Thatcher
“Christmas is a necessity. There has to be at least one day a year to remind us that we’re here for something else besides ourselves.” Eric Svareid
“The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each others’ burdens, easing others’ loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of the holidays.” W.C. Jones
“He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.” Roy L. Smith
“Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more!” Dr. Seuss
“In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season; the Christians called it ‘Christmas’ and went to church; the Jews called it ‘Hanukkah’ and went to synagogue; the atheists went to parties and drank. People passing each other on the street would say ‘Merry Christmas!’ or ‘Happy Hanukkah!’ or (to the atheists) ‘Look out for the wall!” Dave Barry
“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.” Hamilton Wright Mabie
From me – and all of the Chamber’s staff, board, and ambassadors – happy holidays. Please note this will be the last This Week at the Chamber for 2017. I’ll be back in 2018 with some changes to this weekly email. Stay tuned.
