Giving is Easy
Giving is Easy
Giving is easy, and Americans love to give. As a nation, we give 20 times more than other industrialized countries. Each December, I’m reminded of how giving we are as a community. Several years ago we started the Chamber’s Holiday Drive, where we encourage Chamber members to donate needed items to a local organization. We’ve helped five great organizations over the past five years – Su Casa, Community Family Guidance Center, Friends of the 1st CEB, and BEE Smart Scholars Foundation. This year the program assisted the 180 families involved in the ABCUSD Head Start Program. I was moved by the sheer amount of all the items donated. I have to thank our collection sites (see a list below) and the companies that collected items to donate. I was so moved by the number of donations collected this year – unbelievable! So, from the bottom of my heart, I can only say thank you to you all – you made a difference in the lives of many this holiday season.
Our holiday cheer isn’t over yet – we have our Holiday Mixer next Thursday at Sheraton Cerritos Hotel from 4 PM to 6 PM. Come on out and have some more holiday cheer with the Chamber – it’s always a blast!
One last thing…another Columbo moment…as many of you know, I grew up in Ventura County. I know the area ravaged by this week’s wildfires well and my heart is breaking for those who have lost everything. So, if I may ask, let’s keep those who have lost so much this last week across SoCal in mind. There are many ways to give – from local churches to the Red Cross. If you can, please help. Giving is easy.
Have a nice weekend.
