Paper cuts are part of the job

Just three people make up the Chamber team to do our day-to-day business and events. Three. So, when I’m asked who does our office janitorial work, I’m happy to say the staff. When we hold a big event, you can often find us all pitching in to make things happen – from packing boxes to folding event programs. This can be backbreaking work and it often time leads to paper cuts. But it’s all part of the job. Of course, we have a great “force multiplier” when you factor in our super talented and “can-do” Ambassadors who step in to help us transport “stuff” to the golf course at zero dark thirty to stuffing tote bags before a luncheon. We simply could not do what we do for our members without our Ambassadors and volunteers. Speaking of which – we will be handing out our annual business awards (including Ambassador and Volunteer of the Year Awards) in just a few weeks at the Installation & Business Awards Luncheon – make your plans now to attend.

Today’s State of the City was pretty darn amazing. Mayor Hu took a helicopter to the event and SWAT Team member repelled from the ceiling in the theater at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. Of course, City Manager Art Gallucci gave a thorough overview of what’s going on in and what will be coming here in Cerritos. You can find the Mayor and City Manager’s presentation here on the City’s website. Thank you again to all over our sponsors and we hope to see you all at next year’s event…I wonder what Mr. Gallucci will do next year!

I hope you enjoy the long weekend. Please take a moment on Monday to remember the reason behind this holiday – the fallen men and women who have served our nation. While you’re at it, keep those men and women who are serving around the globe in your thoughts as well.
