It Really Does Take a Village
“It takes a village to raise a child” is from an African proverb. These days “it takes a village” has morphed into common conversations about how many things take a community to accomplish something significant. The Chamber is many times, that village. We have an outstanding group of volunteers who help the Chamber reach our goals. From our Board of Directors to our Ambassador Committee to those who just want to help their community; we just couldn’t do what we do without them. This is abundantly clear during the Taste of the Region & Business Expo. Our volunteers begin early by helping to spread the word about this event to potential exhibitors and restaurants, then to the general public. You can find them at the event helping out with setting up in the morning to ticket sales in the afternoon to clean up at night. They also help as we prep for the event. This week, we had nearly a dozen volunteers at the Chamber office “stuffing” inserts into the 1,000 tote bags to be distributed at next week’s event. I was in awe as this group worked as a “well-oiled machine” to efficiently get the job done. To those who helped – I can’t thank you enough.
Since we’re on the subject, the 2016 Taste of the Region & Business Expo is less than a week away. We have a ton of great exhibitors and restaurants for you to meet next week. Make your plans to be with us on Wednesday evening – and bring a friend and an empty tummy!

Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking. – Marcus Aurelius
