Small Business = Big Impact

Small Business = Big Impact

This was National Small Business Week in the U.S. I know, most of you are focused on Cinco de Mayo or looking forward to Memorial Day, but this week is important. Think about this – there are nearly 29 million small businesses in the United States, employing about half of all American workers. If you don’t think small business has an impact on the U.S. and local economies, think again. Over half a million new businesses start up each month in the U.S. Locally, small businesses have helped propel Los Angeles County to great heights, making the County the 19th largest economy in the world. So, when you are out-and-about or looking to do some business with another firm, look to a small business.

It was a great week here at the Chamber with the Fiesta on the Fairways Golf Classic on Monday and a ribbon cutting at the new Islands Restaurant on Thursday. Every week is different here at the Chamber – we could be on a golf course one day, then meet with an elected official a few days later. It’s a great place where we make an impact on local businesses – from small to large – each week. Now, we are rolling into one of our biggest events of the year – the State of the City Luncheon. Take a look below and RSVP as soon as you can as this is a local favorite where Mayor Hu and City Manager Gallucci will be presenting an overview and outlook for the City. Mr. Gallucci usually has a surprise for everyone, and I don’t think this year will be any different.  Hope to see you there.

Next week, the Chamber will join with six other local chambers of commerce at Kaleidoscope – a joint networking mixer benefitting CAPC, Inc. Enjoy a great event in a fun atmosphere – and don’t forget to wear our Chamber’s color: purple! Don’t miss this one!

Peace,

Scott
