Stay the Course“I do not mistrust the future. I do not fear what is ahead. For our problems are large, but our heart is larger. Our challenges are great, but our will is greater.” This is a quote from our 41st President of the United States, George Herbert Walker Bush. This week, a grateful nation said goodbye to President Bush. Our nation put aside politics to celebrate a man who not only fought for his country but dedicated his life to public service. By all accounts, he was a humble man who, like many before him, put his country first. His life code of “Don’t blame people. Be strong. Do your best. Try Hard. Forgive. Stay the course.” is one we should all aspire to hold. In this world of political hatred, it’s great to see we can all celebrate a man who served his nation. Godspeed Mr. President. Godspeed. From a grateful nation, we move to a grateful community. The Chamber’s holiday luncheon is always special to me. This event showcases the best of this community as we support a local non-profit organization. This year, as you know, we supported the Needy Family Project through the Cerritos Optimist Club. The well over 100 kids supported through this program will have a brighter holiday because of the donations you made. I want to take a moment to thank all who gave or served as a collection site. I’d also like to thank the Cerritos Optimist Club for all they do to support the community. We’ll keep the holiday celebration going next with with the Chamber’s annual holiday mixer. This year’s event will be at Romano’s Macaroni Grill in the Cerritos Towne Center. Come by next Thursday evening; we’ll be there from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Let’s keep the celebration of this wonderful time of year going! Have a wonderful weekend.
“No problem of human making is too great to be overcome by human ingenuity, human energy, and the untiring hope of the human spirit.” – George H. W. Bush
